Destroyers are small targets and have to get pretty darn close (<8km) for your secondaries to actually damage them in a substantial way. Really, it's the difference of about 3-5 seconds of your secondaries engaging on your target, as most battleships tend to "lock horns" as I call it.Īgainst destroyers, it's more to do with area-of-denial.
Overall, the difference between a 7km base range and a 7.5km is very, very minor. Additionally, all battleships follow identical secondary dispersion tables, so the Kurfurst is just as accurate with its secondaries at 9.1km as the Montana is, so the effectiveness isn't lost once your target enters your secondary range. But before you protest that statement, hear me out! As an avid brawler, one of the things I noticed is that most targets that enter the 11-12km secondary range also enter the 9-10km secondary range, or less. Maximum secondary ranges are not the end-all-be-all like some people think.
